Well, if you´ve seen the news, you'll have seen that Chile was hit by a MASSIVE (8.8 Richter) earthquake at 3:34 am today. I was about 3ookm from the epicenter, and the intensity was about 7 Mercalli. Last time there was such a big earthquake was more than 20 years ago, in 1985.
Nothing much happened in my house, just violent shaking, and lots of things falling off tables and shelves; a few things broke. The problem was other places, in Santiago and towards Concepción. So far, there are more than 120 reported dead. Several buildings collapsed, and many historical places suffered.
Signing off, I still have no power, and my battery is dying.
EDIT March 1st Well, my family seems to be alright, although there are several people we have yet to hear from, especially those living in Concepción.
My house still has no power, but other than that, our situation is great compared to so many people around here. Water is scarce, as is non-perishable food.
Here are some photos of what happened near my house... and I must say, this is basically NOTHING:
www.facebook.com/album.php?aid…Death toll is up to 711, and there are many people still stuck in buildings.
I'll try and keep this updated.
